Open Championship betting: Overnight odds update

Rory McIlroy is the clear favourite to lift the Claret Jug after another wonderful round today

Rory McIlroy will take a six-shot lead into the final round of the Open Championship and is priced as short as 1/20 with some bookmakers to lift the Claret Jug tomorrow. A commanding round of 68 including two eagles on 16 and 18 was enough to convince the bookmakers that Rory will be the winner come tomorrow evening.

Rickie Fowler will partner Rory in the final round tomorrow, and a four-under 68 was enough to move him into outright second ahead of Sergio Garcia and Dustin Johnson, who can both be picked up around 25/1.

Fowler had closed the gap on McIlroy during the middle part of his round today and at one stage the odds on both players were the same, but bogeys on 14 and 17 coincided with McIlroy’s late surge and he is now priced around 12/1.

Further down the field, Victor Dubuisson (-8) comes in at 50/1, and the rest of the field are priced out at over 100/1.

As ever, the odds reflect the reality that Rory McIlroy has one-and-a-half-hands on his first Claret Jug.
