How to select the right golf ball for your swing

Thomas Devine, fitting specialist at the PGA Academy at DeVere Oulton Hall, explains how to select the right golf ball to suit your game.
 

There’s a choice to make.

The soft golf ball or the hard golf ball.

If you choose the softer golf ball, you will have more feel round the greens than with a harder golf ball.

How to hit fairway woods and hybrids

However, you will lose distance compared to the harder golf ball.

Using a premium golf ball will increase the spin rate which is good for irons and wedges.

But using a golf ball with a high spin rate is bad for the driver as you will lose a considerable amount of distance.
