Tour gossip: Bubba Watson switches to Ping’s S55 irons
The World No 23 has finally swapped out his nine-year-old iron set
Bubba Watson has made his first official iron switch since 2004.
The 2012 Masters champion, who usually values trust and reliability over new technology, swapped his S59 model for Ping’s latest version, the S55.
Ping say the big-hitter noticed a significant increase in distance and also noted the improved workability on offer.
Watson flirted with the brand’s S56 irons two years ago but only kept them in the bag for a handful of rounds.
