TaylorMade release innovative new wedgeJanuary 5, 2012 Golf Equipment
TaylorMade are so confident in the sole design of their latest wedge that they don't offer any different bounce options...
TaylorMade reckon their new wedge represents the next big innovation in what has become a stale market.
The ATV, which stands for All Terrain Versatility, not unlike their flagship shoe, features a unique and extremely clever sole design (it changes slightly between lofts) that was created to be useful from all lies and for all shots.
TaylorMade say every curve, edge and angle serves a purpose and are so confident in the effectiveness of their designs that they do not offer custom bounce options.
“Prior to the introduction of the ATV, the wedge is a piece of equipment that traditionally forces a player to sacrifice a certain shot type,” said TaylorMade’s Brian Bazzel.
“The ATV wedge is engineered to perform beautifully on a multitude of different types of shots, including chips, pitches, sand shots, full shots from fairway, out of the rough, off bare-lies, flop shots and bump-and-runs.”
Bazzel added: “You won’t find a bounce number etched anywhere into the ATV clubhead because the sole takes on different bounces depending on how you position the club for the type of shot you’re hitting, including where your hands are positioned in relation to the clubhead and depending on whether the face is square or to what degree it’s open.”
The ATV, which comes in seven lofts, is also home to a new groove pattern that is designed to offer as much spin as non-conforming models.
Expect to see it in shops from April 3rd 2012, and on Tour right away.
